  • October 17 - WEDU signs on the air as an NET affiliate.

1968Edit

  • WEDU loses its educational license in favor for a commercial license.
  • November 4 - WTOG signs on the air.

1970Edit

  • WTOG becomes an affiliate of PBS.

1983Edit

  • WFLA-TV changes its call letters to WXFL.

1987Edit

  • WEDU becomes an affiliate of Fox.
  • Gaylord Broadcasting sells WTVT to New World Communications.

1989Edit

  • WXFL changes its call letters to back to WFLA-TV.

1990Edit

  • WEDU launches its newscast department.

1994Edit

  • WTVT becomes an affiliate of NBC.
  • WFLA-TV becomes an affiliate of CBS.

1995Edit

  • WEDU becomes an affiliate of The WB network.
  • WFTS signs on the air as a replacement Fox affiliate.

1997Edit

  • New World Communications sells WTVT to Gannett.

2006Edit

  • WEDU becomes an affiliate of The CW network.

2007Edit

  • Media General sells WFLA-TV to Nexstar.

2008Edit

  • WEDU looses its newscast department.
  • WTVT debuted Gannett's mandated graphics and music.
